Not the average family…

I wanted to start out today by telling you about our family. You already know about me (37, marketing professional turned “stay-at-home-mom”, lover of baking, crafting, movies, good wine, drives in the country, etc.), but I wanted to tell you a bit about the rest of us too.

Steve and I got married on November 1, 2013 at the courthouse in Opelika, Alabama with our 3 kids present (my 2 girls and Steve’s son, Alex). My husband is a “history buff” (as my cousin put it) and works at a museum. He loves reading, movies, and exploring the outdoors.

I LOVE this picture of the 5 of us waiting in the Judge’s office before the “ceremony”.

Our son, Alex, is 22 and lives here in town. He is really into the local music scene and is always working on promoting some show-or-another. He’s fixing to move into a new place in a few months and is FINALLY going to be taking the sofa out of our storage room (Thank you, Alex!).

“A” is our oldest girl and she is very much the pre-teen. She’s 12 and is going into the 8th grade next year, is an excellent student (straight A’s and in the National Jr. Honor Society) and LOVES drama/acting. She is a new member of the Thespian Society and is super excited about her 3 week drama camp this summer. She also has very expensive taste (thank you middle school). Lily Pulitzer, Nike shorts, Rayban sunglasses, Hunter boots, UGGS… she wants it all. I’m not sure why she thinks a 12 year old NEEDS all this stuff…

“M”, the youngest, is 9 and loves to play games, help around the house, explore outside, and snuggle. She loves to read and she LOVES her American Girl dolls. She also loves pigs (she’s got hundreds – figurines, stuffed animals, pictures on the wall, etc.) and is convinced we WILL have a mini-pig one day. We’ll see…

Here’s a recent pic of 4 of us (minus Alex).
